Anxiety/Depression
A seemingly constant state of worry, restlessness, irritability, thinking and imagining the worst case scenario.
They tend to always feel apprehensive, like something bad is about to happen.
Or like they are on edge, with racing and ruminating thoughts.
Another common struggle is low self-esteem, and overly cautious, with difficulty to adapt to new situations.
Depression is also common - the stress and anxiety weigh on one’s mind until their entire outlook is gloomy, and they don’t have a lot of hope for their life.
All the of the previous challenges often end up causing more physical challenges: lethargy, low energy, frequent fatigue, low motivation, sleep disturbances (oversleeping, sleeping too little), poor sleep hygiene, low appetite, overeating, negative self-esteem, crying spells, lowered productivity, lack of interest or reduced satisfaction in activities, difficulty concentrating, etc, all of which exacerbate everyone symptom further, making everything even harder.
I utilize ACT, which helps clients learn how to distance themselves from their automatic thoughts and feelings, and cultivate emotional regulation and resilience.
I also teach clients healthier ways of coping when negative emotions arise, along with a psychodynamic, CBT, solution-focused intervention, as well as narrative, somatic processing, combined with proven mindfulness exercises.
